Magic Tricks- Jack’s Party

A good effect is one that can be performed in front of a large audience and then repeated without a moment’s notice. The effect coming up is a perfect little miracle for those times when the party is winding up. You can do it in front of 10 people and involve all of them. It can be repeated and it’ll still leave them shrieking! This is a cool magic trick.

The Magic Trick Effect
From a borrowed deck, you lay out a row of Jacks. Below that you lay out a row of Kings. Below the Kings you lay out a row of Queens and finally finish off with a row of Aces below the Queens. All the cards are gathered into a pile and then cut as many times by as many people in the audience as you wish. The cards are laid out in a face down row again and slowly turned over one by one. Unbelievable! All the Jacks are together, all the Queens are together, all the Kings are together and all the Aces are together. Despite the shuffling, the cards have managed to find their kind!

Requirements
A deck of cards, borrowed if necessary.

Performance
This miracle is a piece of self-working magic. Try it out as you read the instructions. You’ll amaze yourself. No tricky sleights, just good old magic!

1.From the deck remove all the royal cards- Kings, Queens and Jacks along with the Aces. These are the only cards you’ll need so put the rest of the deck away.

2.Now begin the trick by saying, ‘One night, the Jacks threw a party and invited all their buds.’ While you are saying thing, you lay out the 4 Jacks face up next to each other in a left to right row.

3.‘They invited the Kings of good times.’ Right below the Jacks, lay out the Kings one by one. ‘The kings invited the queens,’ saying that you place the Queens in a row right below the Kings.

4.‘Now the party got loud as it usually does when everybody is having fun, and neighbors who weren’t invited, called the cops!’ You lay out the Aces under the Queens. It doesn’t matter if you don’t match the suits, an Ace of Spades doesn’t need to be under a Queen of Spades which by itself can be under a King of Hearts. Just play it cool.

5.‘The cops gathered the party animals together and bundled them into a van,’ this is said while you do the only bit of trickery in this effect. Don’t worry it is perfectly invisible. You pick up a Jack, then the King that’s immediately below it, the Queen below the King and the Ace below the Queen. In effect you pick up a column of cards. You repeat this with the other columns and it doesn’t matter what order you pick up the columns in. Every new stack of cards is placed face up on the cards already in your hand.

6.You turn the stack of cards in your hand face down. ‘It was late and it was dark and the van drove through the shadows, twisting and winding down the narrow roads.’ You say this and mime the action of the van moving down a winding road with your cards.

7.‘When suddenly a ditch appeared where it shouldn’t have and the van rolled in,’ you offer the stack to be cut. Cutting means taking a stack of cards from the top and moving it to the bottom. The cut is safe as long as the top stack is not replaced between cards. It has to be placed at the bottom.

8.‘The van tumbled again,’ and you offer the stack of cards to someone else to cut. This can be repeated as many times as you like. Stretch the line about the van tumbling every time you offer the stack to be cut.

9.When the audience is satisfied, you sigh and say, ‘Fortunately the police van landed the right way up and managed to get back on the road. It somehow reached the station and the poor people inside were gathered together.’

10.You now lay out the cards exactly as you did in the beginning. Cards are laid out facedown horizontally in rows of four. Every new row is exactly below the row of cards above it.

11.‘Everybody was worried, how are the people feeling? Are they injured? They must be so mixed up,’ saying this you turn over 1 card face up from every row.

12.‘But something surprising happened and it explains the truth about people,’ you turn all the cards face up, ‘it was seen that all the Aces were together, all the Kings were together, all the Queens were together, all the Jacks were together and in fact all the birds of feather flocked together.’ You show Kings and Jacks and Queens and Aces with their own kind. If you’ve been trying it, you’ll surprise yourself. This effect really works like magic.

The best thing about this effect is that it can be repeated almost immediately. No preparation is required for this mind bender.
